  5. When ordering yearbooks from TreeRing, please make sure that you choose the yearbook you want, either MS/HS or Elementary. If elementary is not a choice option for you, do not complete your order, and email me.  The price of the elementary book is $10, so if you are charged more the wrong book will be ordered.  If you have not ordered in the past and this is your first time use this passcode: 101289583783994. Hopefully this helps. If need more assistance please email Mr. Lowe at rlowe@bangorchristian.org. Thanks!

  6. Boxtops: Box tops collection and submission is free money to Bangor Christian School.  So we are looking to promote, educate and help students, families and staff collect box tops through a collection challenge.

We will provide zip lock bags labeled for box top collection .  Students and staff can take as many as they'd like.  The children can also ask there extended families to also collect as well.

The challenge will be ending on February 16, 2018.  The class with the most box tops collected will win an ice cream party.  We will coordinate with the teacher on the date to have the ice cream party.

We will provide a box to each teacher for collection and will collect those boxes on 2/16/2018.  Please feel free to contact me (wadsworthgirls@gmail.com) with any questions.  Thank you so much for your help. Sincerely, Krissy Wadsworth.

Annual Family Ice Fishing Day at Pickerel Pond!

The BCS Advisory/ Events Sub-Committee would like to invite all of the middle school and elementary families to a fun fishing event.  The Maine Youth Fish & Game Club in Milford will be hosting their annual family ice fishing day at Pickerel Pond.  The event will be Saturday, January 27 from 8AM to 2PM. This is a great opportunity for children to try ice fishing for the first time and to meet other BCS families.  The event is free! The MYFGC will provide all supplies including equipment, holes, bait, etc.  There will be some snacks available.  All you need is to dress warm and show up.  Fishing is for children under 16 years of age only.

Please come join your BCS classmates for a fun time of fishing and fellowship.

For more information contact Andrew Cassidy, BCS Advisory Board Member at 356-7097 or visit the MYFGC web page at http://maineyouthfishandgame.org/ice-fishing/  .

529 Plans for Tuition

Part of the new tax bill that was passed before Christmas was a change to 529 savings accounts. Previously, parents could open 529 savings accounts only for college tuition. Now parents are allowed to use the savings accounts for private K-12 education as well.

It might be to your advantage to look into this. You can speak to your bank, accountant, or financial advisor to determine if this program would be beneficial for you.

Mid- Terms (Jan. 16 - Jan. 18)

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students,

First semester exams will be Tuesday, January 16 - Thursday, January 18. Here is the exam schedule (click here) so that you can begin to plan a study schedule. Friday, January 19 will be a regular day of school unless we have a snow day during exam week requires us to move one day's exams to Friday.

Students are only required to be at school when they have an exam. However, students who have an exam in the first session do need to arrive at regular start time for homeroom. They should not just show up at 8:00. Students must be in their exam room 30 minutes prior to each exam for the study session.

High School students are dismissed at noon during exam week. We will have quiet study halls for students to sit in when they do not have exams and for students who need to stay until normal dismissal time. Students may not just hang out on campus. They must be in a monitored study hall.

The teachers will be reviewing for exams next week and giving the students their study guides by Wednesday of next week. The exams count for 10% of the semester grade, so please make sure to prepare.

There are a few students who take classes not typically associated with their grade level. If any of those students have scheduling conflicts, they should discuss the conflict with their teachers so that they can schedule new times for their exams.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Moms in Prayer International - Bangor

Moms in Prayer International is a prayer ministry with the goal of having every school and every student covered in prayer.  We meet weekly to pray for one hour and we use the ACTS prayer format and one accord prayer. We focus heavily on praising God for Who He is and asking Him for "big" things for our kids and schools.  We have a couple of groups going right now and are always looking for more group leaders.

Right now we meet on Tuesday mornings from 7:30 to 8:30 at thre radio station conference room and will be starting up a group which will meet 5:30 to 6:30 pm on Sundaynights. (Starting Sunday, September 10th).

We are also planning a moms in prayer informational to be held on October 7th from 9am to 11am at Glenburn Evangelical Covenant Church.

For more information they can contact the Penobscot area coordinator which is me, Cindy McDonald at 852 4497 or on facebook messenger or email at cindylauramcd@gmail.com.  They can also go to www.momsinprayer.org for more information and encouragement.

Clynk!

Parents and Students please help Bangor Christian Schools earn extra money by participating in the Clynk Recycling Program. For every Clynk bag you bring to participating Hannaford Supermarkets, our school earns $3.00. Teachers will have the Clynk bags and envelopes for each student and family who choose to participate. When your bag is full please return it to any participating Hannaford at the Clynk Drop-Off Centers. Then return the Clynk envelope with the student’s name on the envelop to their homeroom teacher.  They will receive a dress down pass to be used at a later date.

Each teacher will have a Clynk folder.  When a student returns a Clynk envelop, with the student’s name on it, the teacher will then place the envelop in the Clynk folder that I provided. On a weekly basis I will check the Clynk folders and check off every time a student returns his or her envelope. I will then give the teacher the dress down passes their students have earned. Students cannot dress down until they have their Clynk dress down pass.  Every time the student returns their envelope, with their name on it, the student earns a free dress down pass. I will be replacing  Clynk bags in the teacher’s folders and have more Clynk bags at the elementary and middle school offices. If you have any questions please contact Peggy Sherwood at pegsherwood70@gmail.com.
